Just a few musings for a Saturday night while on duty. I’m sure that I’ll get more wordy as time goes on. Going to take a while to get adjusted to the process of blogging again. I enjoy it but it’s definitely been a while.Wow! It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here, four months in fact. I think I just needed a break from all of it. This summer was a fantastic time for me to get in touch with myself and my relationship (I got engaged!). I think I needed a break from everything and some time to disconnect in order to better focus myself and my interests. Especially since I’m sure this year will pass by in no time…The summer in Philly at SJU was a great one. I learned so much and was able to connect with a lot of individuals in the Philly area through various interactions. I think the thing that I really enjoyed was that there are so many institutions concentrated in the area and it provided some great opportunities for interesting conversations. I started a benchmarking project compiling information about the student staff position at different institutions- very interesting conversations and it was interesting to see what different places are doing.I think it’s going to take a while to get used to being a 2nd year. I’m not really at all sure how to react to it. Ever since I’ve been at ISU, there have been individuals in the #ISUSAHEprogram that have been there to mentor me and provide reassurance. I’m glad that I’m still connected with those individuals but I’m a little weired out that I’m now that individual in the position and am planning for a job search in the spring. I’m excited for the prospect but I can’t lie and say that it’s not a bit odd.Now onto reading articles…
